The Art of Framing… Essex Life Magazine
Interior Angle, the bespoke picture framing established in Chelmsford in 1994 are celebrating over 30 years of framing for homes all over Essex.
Frames for pictures as a concept has been around since the times of the ancient Egyptians and the Greeks, where “framing borders” were used in paintings on pottery and walls to create sections of scenes. Picture frames have long been seen as a thoughtful way to preserve memories, highlighting special moments in life. They represent the beauty of captured memories, showcasing the love, friendships, and experiences that define our lives.
The twelfth and thirteenth centuries brought about the hand-carved, wooden frames that we recognize today. These frames were used as part of a church’s decor and provided borders to separate the different paintings and sections within the sanctuary.
My picture framing career has run in adjacent to the galleries, which all started when I attended a picture framing course with my father, Richard, which then led to the opening of Interior Angle in the Meadows shopping Centre in Chelmsford. Opening over 30 years ago we are still going strong. Located in the heart of Roxwell, just outside of Chelmsford. Richard has retired, but we have continued with a great team of framers.
You can certainly never tire of this job, framing all sorts of different artworks, photographs, memorabilia, football shirts and even guitars! So, after hundreds of years, we are still preserving our memories in the same way.
Who hasn’t got something hidden away or under the bed that needs framing?
Framing has changed over the years. The assortment of different types of frames available these days is much more exciting, from beautiful wood veneers to vibrant neon colours, it has become more about designing the perfect frame combinations to suit your taste, your art and your interior.
And who doesn’t love a challenge? Framing large oversize artworks is not uncommon, if you are staring at large blank walls in your house, coming up with ideas for designing gallery walls can be great fun too.
You don’t have to stick to plain frames, if the frame you choose compliments the work perfectly this will sit in any room the artwork suits.
So, fill your walls with colour and excitement made up from your memories, things that make you smile and things that you love and create an extra special presentation that is unique to you with a bespoke framing service.
As picture framers, Interior Angle have always made sure we provide a quality service, offering handmade frames to Italian frames. We undertake hand finishing on our premises, conservation standard mounting and a good collection of museum quality glass and acrylics. Framing that special memory to highly collectable artworks.
