“Reconstruction 1” is a collage by Street Artist David Shillinglaw which follows his characteristic mixed media style of painting on paper and arranging the shapes to create characters.

“When I make paintings there is a meditation that happens and I lose myself in it. It’s a bit like playing chess. You’re constantly 5 moves ahead. Chess boxing, where you do a round of boxing then sit down and play chess is like painting. Because sometimes it disturbs me and upsets me what happens. And other times it lightens me and fills me with joy and I sit in my studio just looking at it trying to figure out what happened. And it’s addictive because it’s somewhere between agony and ecstasy. It’s a powerful thing.”
