It echoes the editing process that would take place in a sketchbook, but the ideas are developing and decisions about composition are all taking place on the piece itself. Gradually pieces reach a conclusion and so they are removed from the process. It’s often the addition of cut up text that completes them. It can be a memory game; this piece of text would be perfect for this piece – now where did I see it?
