“I have for a number of years thought that the Tarot might provide an interesting point of departure for a series of mono-prints. However, the motivation for the subject came from a director of one of the Martin Lawrence galleries in the USA, who said that a number of clients had asked if I had ever done anything on the Tarot. With the optimism of the uninformed, I purchased the ‘Rider Waite Tarot Deck’ and became fascinated by the titles and images of the Major and Minor Arcana and thought it might be interesting to replace them with famous classical and modern paintings. In addition, I investigated some of the symbolism associated with the Tarot and selected some of the of images Swords, Cups, Wands and Pentacles as well as the ouroboros and juxtaposed them with the card, using diamond dust.” – Brad Faine

Shooting Craps
‘SHOOTING CRAPS’ IS A LIMITED EDITION BY POP ART ARTIST, BRAD FAINE
Price: £4000
Limited edition of 5
Mono-print in 5 different colourways is a digital print plus screenprint glazes on a stretched canvas
The proliferation of a particular form of jargon used in recent newspaper articles and government briefings provided the basic text for this print. The use of phrases like Astroturfing, Dog whistling and Throwing a Dead Cat on the Table supplied a starting point, in which the alphabet text could be construed as a primer for spin doctor speak. The format of two of concentric spirals of dice evocative of Shooting Craps, are an ironic reflection of the chance element involved in catching the Corona Virus, while the rainbow colours we now associate with our support for the NHS in this time of crisis are used as an homage to the medical profession.
The earliest record of a kind of spin doctor is generally held to be Zoroaster (or Zarathustra 1500 BC? who was regarded as the first philosopher) while throughout history important political figures such as Bishop Odo who was said to have commissioned the Bayeux Tapestry to justify William’s seizure of the English throne; Thomas Cromwell and Shakespeare’s whitewash of Henry the Eighth’s killing of Richard the third; Lord Burley and Lord Walsingham’s manipulation of Queen Elizabeth to persuade her to execute Mary Queen of Scots, until more recently, a much milder Lord Armstrong merely admitted to being ‘economical with the truth’

A.G.B.I Bi-Centenary Print
A.G.B.I Bi-Centenary Print is a Limited Edition Print showcasing the works of 42 artists.
Price: £1500
Limited edition print
With a real pop-art feel to the print as a whole, it is surprising to see the many different styles when you look closely at the individual works: you see something new each time.
Brad Faine, as a trustee of The Artists’ General Benevolent Institution (A.G.B.I), produced the print to celebrate the bi-centenary of the organisation. 25 artists were invited to donate the right to use their images on a collage assembly print (rather like the Band Aid print of 1985) and to have each copy signed by all of them. The trustees were pleased to find that by the time they had had acceptance from the 25 artists initially invited, offers were received from a further 27 artists, increasing the total to 42.
This fabulous print was produced, and is sold, to support the Artists General Benevolence Institution (A.G.B.I.), whose role is to provide financial aid for professional artists who can no longer support themselves, due to age, illness or infirmity.
Each print is signed in pencil by all the 42 artists who have generously provided the images.

The Fear of Cats
‘The Fear of Cats’ is a marvellous Limited Edition Print by pop Artist, Brad Faine.

Each year the Chelsea Arts Club asks its artist members to produce a small work, which will be auctioned for the benefit of The Chelsea Arts Club Charity and the Artists General Benevolent Institution. Last year the theme was ‘Heroes and Villains, but with the stipulation that they would prefer not to see too many Marilyn Munroes, or Hitlers, too many Super Heroes and especially fluffy kittens.
“I just couldn’t resist the challenge – or maybe I was reverting to childhood as I made a print based on kittens and called it The Usual Suspects. However a year later I started to rework the idea with the added ambiguity that although mice are frightened of cats, in the world of the cartoon the mice invariably come out on top and intimidate their feline antagonists. The images are interwoven with a text that contains an A to Z of the names of famous cats from literature, history and the cinema. A number of people who liked the cat print asked me to make a similar piece only this time using Dogs and cartoon cats as the source material. In this case I used various cartoon cats and as with the previous print underpinned the images with a text that was based on an A-Z of famous dogs from literature, history and the cinema.” – Brad Faine

Yellow Brick Road
‘Yellow Brick Road’ is a gorgeous Limited Edition Print by pop Artist, Brad Faine.
Price: £1250
Limited edition of 50
Hand applied silkscreen satin protection varnish and an Ultra Violet gloss varnish on the screen printed Oscar
Signed & numbered by the artist
The cowardly Lion, the Tin man, the Straw man and Dorothy may all be construed as metaphors for some aspects of the artistic personality. The Yellow Brick Road may be said similarly, to lead some to an Oscar and the pinnacle of cinematic endeavour that it represents. This print comprises two inter-weaving spirals made up of stills from the movies that have won for their stars best actor and actress awards. The line drawn Oscar is made up of yellow bricks and the numbers on each frame relate to the year the trophy was presented. The images include all the films since the inception of the awards in 1929 until 2013. However some may think that Dorothy Parker blurred the gender distinctions when she wrote “Scratch an actor and you find an actress”.

The 2012 Oscars provided the opportunity for producing a print based on Brad Faine’s familiar grid system. The 84 films that have won best picture award since its inception provided the basis for a rectangle comprising seven by twelve images. The first film to win the Academy Award for best picture was Sunrise Wings in 1928 (the award is presented in the following year). This print is a selection of stills from each winning movie from 1929 to 2011.
Each image has been cropped to fit an implied movie frame, colour corrected and then generally cleaned up to remove blemishes and to enhance loss of shadow detail particularly in the case of the older movies. The large numbers refer to the date of the film and the line drawn gold Oscar figurine to the winners’ award. The title refers to the opening line of the acceptance speeches of most recipients of the award and the enjoyment watching films has given to the author of the print.

Art Malarky II
‘Art Malarky II’ is a stunning Limited Edition Print by pop Artist, Brad Faine.
Price: £900
Limited edition of 50
This piece of art has silkscreen satin protection varnish, an Ultra Violet glaze on the circular images

“Art Malarkey I and II were generated by a question asked of my wife by Paul Duke; “Jane what do you think about all this art malarkey?”. I thought it a great phrase that summed up the popular view of abstract art. The print is the second in this series that combines elements of the works of some of my favourite artists with an alphabet of their surnames. Each circular image contains sections from two famous pictures by abstract artists such as Albers, Bacon, Chagall etc, while the text comprises two alphabets, one from A to Z and the other from Z to A. The underlying colour of the text is moderated by a large coloured alphabet. Hopefully the effect of the piece is to de-mystify the rarefied air of the upper echelons of the art world and have a bit of fun playing around with the modern masters.” – Brad Faine
